I was uploading a video to XTube - a video of me masturbating in the woods - and I wrote the phrase "primal force" in the description, when a warning message popped up informing me that the word "force" was not allowed. I've encountered XTube's quirky censorship in the past, to my frustration; I discovered that I cannot write "I feel like a girl" because the word "girl" is banned. I guess they want to help limit the sharing of potentially "obscene" and criminal material (or else they just don't want search engines to associate their website with the stuff anti-porn pundits are most likely to criticize), but it's always struck me as ironic that a site dedicated to perversion would ban so many of the words people use to stoke their [often illicit] sexual desires.
It's also silly, sometimes, the words that get banned that have ordinary, everyday uses, or the ones that do get banned while others fall under the radar. So I became curious about just which words were banned, but in lieu of being able to find a comprehensive list (whether posted by XTube itself or someone else), I embarked on a quest to type in as many potentially offensive search terms as I could think of on the spot, and see which ones were banned. It's not terribly hard to guess which words would be banned, but sometimes you get a few surprises. (Of course, any of these words could change at any time).
For example, "animal", "dog", and "horse" are all banned, but "cat" and "sheep" are not. You can't type "dead body" (because "dead" is a banned word, as is "zombie"), but "corpse" is fine. Similarly, "druggy" is banned (along with "drugs", etc.), but "addict" is fine. And as far as specific drugs go, the only ones I found that were banned were "cocaine" and "meth" - "marijuana" and "heroin" were both fine.
Anything related to coprophilia (except that word itself, since it's probably too intellectual for many people to figure out what it means) is banned, but water sports and its affiliated terms are fine. So, number one only, XTubers, no number two! Predictably, "underage" is banned (along with anything relating to "kids" or "children", including "boys" and "girls", as generic as those terms are), but, perhaps surprisingly, both "adolescent" and "prepubescent" are not.
Most terms related to "incest" are banned (despite how popular incest porn is these days), but there are a few that surprisingly slipped through the cracks. For example, you can't say "brother", but "sister" is fine. Alternatively, "daughter" is banned, but "son" is not (do we have Christianity to thank for that one?). Also, "mommy" is banned (along with "mother", "father", "mom", and "dad"), but surprisingly, "daddy" is not.
"Parents" and "siblings" are apparently generic enough to pass the censors. "Stepsister" and "stepbrother" are fine (as long as you don't hyphenate that last one, as the censor will pick up "brother"), but "nieces", "nephews", "aunts", and "uncles" are all banned (along with "cousins"). You can't say "grandmother" or "grandfather" but, strangely, "grandkids" - along with "grandchildren", "grandson", and "granddaughter" - are all fine.
Anything at all related to "rape" is banned, along with "nonconsent" (and "revenge"), and several words associated with "violence", including "blood", "gun", "knife", "force" (as noted above), "choke", "strangle", and "torture". Finally, I was very surprised to learn that the word "tentacle" is also banned. If any of this material really were beyond the pale, wouldn't it be easier to hunt down if it were properly described? Or, wait...maybe that's the point? :-x
